What We Do
London Marathon 2026
Our 2026 team are aiming to raise as much money as possible by taking part in the TCS London Marathon.
We are aiming to take 30 families on a residential break in 2026 to Calvert Lakes in Keswick to push disabilities and medical conditions aside for activities like rock climbing, bushcraft, kayaking and much more. We believe this will empower our families by increasing confidence, reducing isolation, and taking part in activities that would never normally be accessible to them.
Team members Chris Lane, Joanna Holbrook-Morris, Gary Davies and Kate Lane (pictured above with our trustee Joanne Wright) have each committed to raising £2026 in sponsorship, but as a whole the team would love to to raise £26,000. To do this, they are hoping to gain donations and sponsorship.
Please read on to see how to sponsor us, and a few of the reasons why this trip is so important to some of our families.
You can donate directly to the team via their dedicated JustGiving page

Evie
Evie, age 7, from Scunthorpe, has a brain tumour, hydrocephalus, epilepsy and body weakness with uncoordinated walking - meaning she has to use a wheelchair, encounters memory problems and experiences changes in her personality.
“Going to Calvert Lakes would give Evie the opportunity to have a small part of her childhood back”, says mum Clare. “Evie’s lost a huge amount of confidence while spending so much time in hospital and away from her friends, and I believe going to Calvert Lakes with Sunflowers would give her the opportunity to build her confidence back up. Evie will never be able to go on a bouncy castle or a trampoline due to having a shunt fitted on her brain helping to keep her alive, she misses these so much and being able to have adventures in Calvert while being safe would mean the world to her, and to us as a family."

Reggie
Reggie, age 8, from Grimsby, has hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a significant brain injury, and is visually impaired. When heart surgery caused multiple strokes, Reggie continues to rebuild his fitness, confidence and vision.
Says Michelle, Reggie’s mum, “I think going to Calvert Lakes with Sunflowers could prove life-changing for Reggie. I think it would build Reggie's confidence and give him freedom to try anything that holds him back in everyday life! He has limited use of his left side, so he struggles with soft play, climbing, etc....this place sounds like it would be an opportunity for him to give his best without holding back like he does in "normal" activities. As a family, we would love to see him challenge himself and watch his confidence grow.”
Silver Sponsors
Silver tier sponsor's logo will appear on the back of one of our runner's shirts. A total of 36 spots are available.

Alfie
Alfie, age 8, from Immingham, has multiple complex conditions, including hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
“Alfie would benefit massively from going on the Sunflowers Calvert Lakes trip,” says mum, Lisa. “He would be able to participate in so many activities that we wouldn't ordinarily see as accessible or possible; from the way they adjust them to make them safe and accessible, the assistance and support offered, the extra time a child needs to manage. A holiday with other families that understand would also be such a wonderful experience, it really is very special how we can all relate to each other's varying needs. This is an opportunity for a break, where for the first time, many of our families can all be included in all of the activities together, with no barriers in the way, or worries... just endless possibilities. That really is for us all, simply magical!”

Lucy
Lucy, age 8, from Laceby, has hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy and epilepsy.
“Just because Lucy doesn’t walk, doesn’t mean she can’t achieve things like everyone else!” says mum, Katie. “Lucy loves the challenge of going to new places, being in the countryside, and pushing herself physically. She is also a social butterfly and so taking all this into account, we know Calvert Lakes would be perfect for her. To be given the opportunity to do this with her Sunflowers’ friends would be incredible.”
